Andreas Fellgiebel

Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Fellgiebel is Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Psychosomatics, and Psychotherapy at AGAPLESION Elisabethenstift Darmstadt, Germany. His clinical expertise focuses on dementia, late-life depression, home treatment, early interventions, and prevention, while his research centers on brain aging, resilience mechanisms, structural imaging (MRI, DTI), translational dementia research, and stress modulation in patients and caregivers. After studying medicine and philosophy at Cologne and Marburg (1987–1995), he progressed through neurology and psychiatry positions, earning certifications, habilitation, and professorships. Since 2023, he serves as President of the German Academy of Gerontopsychiatry and Psychotherapy (DAGPP), with numerous publications on dementia care, psychobiological interventions, and caregiver resilience.
