
Dalius Jatuzis
Dalius Jatužis graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in medicine in 1991. From 1991 to 1995, he continued his studies in neurology residency and obtained a speciality in neurology. After his residency, he did postgraduate training and fellowship at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden (neurology and clinical physiology) and Loyola University in the US (clinical neurology). In 1999, he defended his doctoral thesis and received a PhD degree from Vilnius University.
Since 1995, he has held various positions at the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University. Currently, Dalius Jatužis is a full-time Professor of Neurology, Head of Clinic of Neurology and Neurosurgery. He was elected Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in 2022 and currently holds this position.
His primary research interests involve cerebrovascular disease, stroke prevention and acute stroke treatment, and cerebrovascular ultrasound. Practical clinical activity of prof. D. Jatužis is closely related to the implementation of contemporary principles of acute stroke management and prevention, regular updates of national stroke guidelines, reorganisation of the national stroke care network and breakthrough of modern reperfusion stroke therapies in Lithuania, treatment of migraine, acute and chronic pain. He received the name and medal of the honoured doctor of Lithuania in 2015, the Nordic Stroke Award in 2021 and won the Spirit of Excellence award with the Lithuanian stroke simulation team in 2024.
Dalius Jatužis is the President of the Lithuanian Neurologists‘ Association, Fellow of the European Stroke Organisation (FESO), member of European Academy of Neurology (EAN) Stroke scientific panel, national coordinator for the implementation of Stroke Action Plan for Europe in Lithuania, principal investigator of numerous clinical trials, reviewer in a number of international scientific journals, and executive editor of the national scientific journal „Neurologijos seminarai“ (Seminars in Neurology). He is a co-author of 10 neurology textbooks in the Lithuanian language. D. Jatužis has given more than 100 scientific oral and poster presentations and invited lectures at national and international conferences.
