Jennifer Faber 

Dr. Jennifer Faber is the head of the Ataxia Clinic at the Center of Neurology, University Hospital Bonn, and clinical investigator at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), Bonn, Germany. For the integrated concept of comprehensive patient care and excellent ataxia research, the Ataxia Clinic was awarded as the first European “Ataxia Center of Excellence” by the National Ataxia Foundation (NAF). Dr. Jennifer Faber received a pre-diploma in Mathematics from Bonn University, and graduated with and MD and doctor of medicine degree. After a research stay at Stanford University, she continued her research at the DZNE on MR imaging of ataxias and disease modeling. She uses multimodal MRI acquired at 3T as well as ultra-high field 7T to assess structural alterations of the cerebellum and brainstem and digital e-health applications to quantify gait disturbances. Her research focus is the identification of biomarkers that allow to improve diagnosis and prognosis in ataxias, monitoring of progression before the clinical onset and stratification for clinical trials. Dr. Faber is coordinating the German DZNE Clinical Ataxia Network and the European Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3/Machado-Joseph-Disease Initiative (ESMI). Dr. Faber is Fellow of the Hertie Network of Excellence in Clinical Neuroscience and member of the Ataxia Global Initiative Steering Committee and the MDS Ataxia Study Group.
