Prof. Jurate Macijauskiene, Head of the Department of Geriatrics, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, and the Chaiperson of the Senate of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU). Currently she is president of the European Union of Medical Societies Geriatric Section (UEMS – GS), Member of European Academy of Medicine of Ageing (EAMA), participates in the network InteRAI; since 2016, Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre (WHO CC) for Nursing education and practice at the LSMU. She participates in the research projects (currently involved in “JADE Health” (Joint Action Joint Action addressing DEmentia and HEALTH, financed by European Commission), serves as an expert evaluating research proposals and articles, including those related to dementia field. Served as a member of the management group of the research program “Healthy Aging” at the Lithuanian Research Council. Her research interests cover elderly care, geriatric syndromes, including dementia syndrome, long term care, interprofessional education. She teaches undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students, with special focus on psychogeriatrics; is an author or co-author of several textbooks and more than 300 scientific publications. As a geriatrician, she has experience of more than 30 years consulting persons with cognitive impairment and dementia.
