
Mark Braschinsky
Dr Mark Braschinsky is a senior neurologist at Tartu University Hospital and an associate professor of neurology at the University of Tartu. He graduated from the University of Tartu Faculty of Medicine and earned his PhD in neurology in 2010. Since 2006, he has worked at Tartu University Hospital, where he specializes in headache and migraine disorders. He is the founder of the Tartu University Hospital’s headache clinic, which he established to advance specialized care for headache patients. Dr Braschinsky also founded the Estonian Headache Society and served as its first president. He has held board memberships in the European Headache Federation and the International Headache Society, playing a key role in developing clinical guidelines for headache management.
His research focuses on headache disorders, particularly migraine. He has authored or co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications. Notably, he contributed to the European Headache Federation's consensus definitions of treatment response and triptan failure, and was involved in the IHS/EHF guidelines on migraine resistance published in 2025. At the University of Tartu, he teaches neurology and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He also practices large international collaboration. Dr Braschinsky’s contributions to clinical practice, research, and education have helped shape the field of headache medicine in Estonia, Europe and beyond. His leadership has also helped integrate Estonian neurology into the broader European and global community.
