Vaidas Matijošaitis

Vaidas Matijosaitis is Professor of Neurology at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LUHS) and full-time neurologist at the Department of Neurology, Hospital of LUHS. Since 2016, he is a head of the comprehensive stroke unit at the department of neurology at LUHS. Since 2016 he is involved in European Stroke Organization supported Angels initiative activity performing stroke simulation education activities in Lithuania as well as other countries.

He completed his neurology residency at Kaunas Medical University in 2006, later in 2012 he defended his PhD thesis on Clinical assessment of noninvasive intracranial pressure absolute value measurement method.  

Since his residency Vaidas Matijosaitis has focused on ultrasound investigations performing extracranial and intracranial vascular ultrasound. Later in 2015 he increased his knowledge in young stroke etiology ultrasound investigations while visiting Bergen Haukeland University hospital where he learned to perform TCD PFO studies. He has participated in different scientific projects investigating brain structure changes in dementia as well as Parkinsons’ disease. He has authored numerous publications in these fields.

Vaidas Matijosaitis is a member of the Lithuanian Society of Neurologists, Lithuanian Headache Association, ESO, Lithuanian society of clinical neurophysiology and neurosonology, IFCN. 2015- 2024 he was President of Lithuanian Clinical Neurophysiology and Neurosonology society.
